Turmeric has an earthy aroma, & its flavour is slightly peppery & bitter, with a subtle ginger taste.
If you are a curry lover, turmeric is a necessary part of curry powder. Turmeric is used widely in Indian , Middle Eastern & South East Asian cooking.
You find it also in Moroccan spice mix of Ras el Hanout; in South African geelrys (yellow rice); in Vietnamese cuisine bánh xèo, bánh khọt, and mi quang... Have you heard of Golden Milk? Well, it is turmeric powdered mixed generally with coconut milk & ghee.
I love adding turmeric with my chicken & fish recipes. I always mix turmeric with black pepper & oil.
