The Spices' Journey

From Middle East, to India, China and Southeast Asian countries, all our spices began with a story from a place in the world.
Since 2007 we’ve been traveling around the globe to discover new flavours.

One of the small farms in Northern India growing ginger, turmeric, chilli. They also had sweet tasty mandarin (clementine) trees, which my daughter Sophie fell in love with them.
They grow different crops every year to keep the soil healthy. If they grow this year turmeric then they would grow something else the following year.
On my visit to a few small farms in Northern India in 2018, I pulled out fresh ginger roots from the ground. It was the first time to experience this. The freshness and the sensational aroma of that freshly harvested ginger is printed in my memory to this day.
Ambootia, means “place of the mango trees” is one of the most famous tea estates in Darjeeling. in the 1850s the British established this very first tea plantation in this part of India.

5 hours of flight from Dubai to Kolkata and another one hour flight to Bagdogra followed by almost two hours of drive, we finally arrived in beautiful Ambootia Tea estate. It was an unforgettable journey especially when you are 8 months pregnant traveling with a 3 years old child and a particular husband.
